Literary Festival 2011

The Wellington Town Council, through its Festival Committee, is delighted to present another celebration of all things literary.  Each year we try to stage something new and exciting and this year is no different.  The programme for the event is now available and copies can be picked up at the Civic Centre, Library and various shops in the Town.

Wrekin Games in Wellington 2011

The sun shone, the music played and we all had a dance!

Not your usual games day but on Saturday 2nd July Wellington Town Council staged a Wrekin Games Day in the town.  Keeping the links with William Penny Brooke’s original Olympian concept, the town enjoyed a series of sports skills demonstrations.  Members of the public also had the opportunity to try those skills – and yes they included salsa, courtesy of ‘SalsaParami!’.  Perhaps not quite what Penny Brookes had in mind but dance is acknowledged as good exercise in itself.
