Wellington Town Council are welcoming applications for a new Town Crier who will play a leading role within the Town and to occupy this important and historic position. The vacancy arises from the sad recent death of Percy Simmonds who served as Town Crier with great distinction and for many years. The Town Council has now decided to advertise the vacancy and is welcoming applications for the post, with applications being requested by 1st September.

Karen Roper, Town Clerk said that “Percy had served Wellington with great distinction and I am well aware that he took great pride in the historic role as Town Crier, was an extremely good representative of the Town and he is greatly missed. He will be a very hard person to follow but hopefully we will find a replacement who will undertake this important civic position.”
