Shopping in Wellington

Wellington is a thriving market town in the heart of Shropshire and part of the Borough of Telford & Wrekin.  The market is operated as a result of a Royal Charter, probably one of the very oldest in the country, granted over 750 years ago in 1244.  Market days are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays when the activity of the traders brings the town to life.  The market is one of the best in the whole of Shropshire.

The Market Company, which as well as owning Wellington Market operates almost 40 other markets throughout both England and Wales, has developed Market Street into a busy shopping centre with many small retail outlets.

There are many cafes and eating places in the town and Wetherspoons have just opened a brand new pub & restaurant in the centre, ‘the William Withering’.  Together with a number of specialist and family operated outlets,

Wellington continues to thrive, attracting shoppers from all over the region.

Wellington has several good-sized car parks where parking is free and the town streets are pedestrianised.  It is a busy and friendly shopping centre where shoppers can walk the streets safely, browse in comfort and still receive friendly and personal service for which  British shopkeepers were traditionally renowned.  It also has a number of specialist shops as well as some of the larger national names.

The town also offers many opportunities for those wishing to set themselves up in a small retail business.  There are a number of outlets with competitively priced rents to suit all budgets.  Wellington has been the place where many much larger businesses were originally conceived.
