Plastic Free Community

Wellington Town Council are about to embark on becoming a plastic free community.

This status is achieved once various criteria have been met including reducing single use plastic by Wellington traders and organisations, holding events and action days and collating and submitting evidence.

Diverse community involvement is a necessary condition including identifying and working with business champions who commit to removing at least 3 single use plastic items with a plan in place to identify and tackle the rest.

A steering group will be set up which will agree and set direction, meet objectives and engage with schools, colleges, and community organisations.

If you feel that you could contribute to this journey, Wellington Town Council Climate Emergency Working Group will be pleased to hear from you.

Initially, please email the chair, Cllr Anthony Lowe at
