Welcome to Love Wellington

Love Wellington was launched in 2019 to help raise the profile of Wellington and promote and improve the economic prospects of the town.
Love Wellington is more than just a social media account; it is a community-driven force dedicated to Wellington, supported and funded by Wellington Town Council’s Regeneration Partnership.

The mission is clear: to engage with and uplift the local Wellington community by enhancing and championing the town. We firmly believe that when we nurture and empower our community, we all prosper – stronger together.

Our Commitment:

Empowering Local Businesses: We’re here to boost the economic fortunes of local businesses, helping them thrive and grow. We provide support programmes such as social media training, a business WhatsApp group and a regular Wellington businesses networking group which has led to a number of joint projects between businesses. On top of this we have a far-reaching social media platform which regularly reaches 200,000 people per month to showcase all that Wellington has to offer.
Love Wellington also runs various promotions and trails throughout the year to bring footfall into the town and to encourage local spend.

Supporting Charities and Community Groups: Love Wellington is committed to strengthening local charities and community groups. We work hand in hand to make Wellington a better place for everyone, by joining the community together and communicating all the ‘good stuff’ going on in Wellington. This approach led us to enter, and win, Shropshire’s Outstanding Community in 2022.

Championing Local Initiatives: We’re passionate about Wellington and the initiatives that make our town unique. Love Wellington actively develops and implements place marketing and engagement initiatives to put Wellington on the map, such as close liaison with Visit Shropshire, Visit Telford and Telford & Wrekin Council’s Pride in Our High Street initiative. Through this joined up approach, Wellington achieved runner up in The Great British High Street competition ‘Rising Star’ category.

Communication with local residents:
Love Wellington produces a quarterly magazine ‘This is Our Wellington’ which highlights different aspects of the town and communicates to residents’ local news and regeneration plans and progress.
There is a continual feed of good news stories from Wellington, community projects, events and news of Wellington businesses on our social media platforms – all of which are professionally curated to build a quality Wellington ‘brand’.

Last year Love Wellington generated 45 ‘stories’ in the traditional press and media; plus 22 regional radio (BBC Radio Shropshire) interviews and 1 feature on BBC Midlands Today as well as 2 national newspaper articles.

Websitewww.LoveWellington.co.uk is constantly evolving and updating and has a business directory and events listing.

County and National Recognition

Sally Themans of Love Wellington has set up and chairs quarterly meetings of town champions from all over Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin to share best practice and ensure Wellington is represented at this forum.
Sally also organised the first Shropshire Place seminar in October 2023 with nationally acclaimed guest speaker Ojay McDonald talking on the theme of repurposing vacant High Street properties. She also attended Visa’s ‘Celebrating Towns’ reception at the House of Commons focussing on High Street Regeneration.

So, Love Wellington is not just a social media presence; we’re a movement. A collaboration with local traders, residents, community groups, charities, local councils, and other stakeholders. Together, we’re shaping the future of Wellington to make Wellington an even better place to live, work, and visit. Together, we’re building a stronger, more vibrant community.
