Community Grants

Wellington Town Council has a commitment to encourage, support and promote volunteer groups, community organisations and charities within Wellington for the benefit of the Town.

The Town Council makes an annual budget provision for Community Grants to help meet its aims. Community grants come from taxpayer funds, a key principle of this policy is to ensure that grant expenditure is open and transparent.

Decisions related to Community Grants are considered at the Full Town Council (FTC) meetings twice a year.

Grants are made under the Power of General Competence, Localism Act 2011 which allows grants to be given for projects:

·       that are in the interests of the town.

·       that are for the benefit of some or all residents or community of Wellington, or

·       improve the range of services and activities in the town.

Grants are awarded at the discretion of the Town Council
