West Mercia Police are inviting Cllr’s and other interested parties from the Parish to participate in our Ride Along Scheme.

The ride along scheme offers the opportunity to join officers on patrol and experience daily policing firsthand.

The scheme is open to anyone aged 18 and over.

Dear Sir/Madam,

West Mercia Police are inviting you to participate in our Ride Along Scheme. The ride along scheme offers members of the public the opportunity to join officers on patrol and experience daily policing first hand. The scheme is open to anyone aged 18 and over.

The ride along scheme is designed to be a key engagement and outreach tool that performs a vital role in themes around trust and confidence with all our communities. It offers members of
the public a chance to see the type of work performed by the police including how it links in with West Mercia Police’s Community Charter and its core priorities.

It also gives an insight to those thinking of joining the police and encourages participants to share their experiences widely. The nature of policing is inherently complex and therefore the ride
along scheme offers the opportunity for transparency and accountability in policing
processes.

The scheme is not intended as blue light experience, but is designed to provide members
of the community a chance to see how their local policing team operates. This not only
enables community members to witness first-hand the roles, responsibilities and
challenges of policing but also presents an opportunity to share experiences to better
inform and improve our understanding of community perceptions.

We are committed to keeping communities safe, delivering an excellent service and we believe the Ride Along Scheme will help us with this, whilst also helping us achieve our parish priorities and enable the public to see the work we are completing.
